![]() It excited late night US TV and is sure to help tourism by putting Moose Jaw on a few electronic maps. It is time to face it, the announcement of Mac's speaking after almost four long years as a second string moose up along the Trans-Canada Highway, finally put more pride in this community then anything notorious ever will it seems. The plan was for Mac to grow a larger set of antlers which I’m thinking had to be triggered by some inner sense of being after 30 years standing alone. “I am going to be the biggest in the world once again,” was the substance of Mac's news conference as it was announced to the impatiently waiting world press. It was a massive voice driven seemingly from within a new youthful Mac who spoke seemingly regained his youthful pride having got his moxie and mojo back. Mac is about to grow a larger set of antlers and be the biggest moose in the world once again. Mac came back with the same pride and dignity he once possessed.Īfter so many years the great solitary colossus out on the Trans-Canada Highway spoke with thunder. So then once it all became public and the awful truth spread like wildfire about the second class status something in Moose Jaw's behemoth mascot fired up. Some people were even whispering it had something to do with his being unceremoniously painted numerous times in a nether region and steps to snip the problem in the bud which left Mac without the hmmmmm to do something about it. Something seemed strangely missing from our beloved Mac back in 2015, He was resigned to spending his days in second place and enjoying a much quieter retirement.īut in 2019 he spoke out having regained the spirit of who he once truly was. Mac at that time said he was happy with being the second largest in the world. It really wasn’t anything new as Mac had commented to the media way back in 2015. Your buildings will now be displayed in 3D.It came as a special request from someone in the community and that being I was asked to push for the same size when it came to the Mac The Moose crisis.įor those of you who are unfamiliar with the crisis, it just recently became well known that there was a major conspiracy in of all places Norway to knock Mac The Moose off of his coveted title of the World’s Biggest Moose. A Bldg output will be added and you can attach this output to a Geometry parameter. The attributes of these Feature Types are found in the K ouput of the OSM Data component.įor some geographies, you can extrude buildings to their heights by right clicking on the OSM Data component and clicking on Create 3D Buildings. You can continue to add data by copying creating different streams of OSM inputs with different Feature Types. You can now right click on the OSM component to toggle different Feature Types from the dropdown menu. You can use a Polyline component to draw the lines between the points. You will now see your data as points in the Rhino viewport. Attach the OSM output from the Location component to the O input and attach the File Path to the F input. Set the File Path component to the source of your downloaded OSM data. If the export fails, you can try one of the options in the left menu bar such as the Overpass API to download the data. In the left menu you can select Manually select a different area to draw a bounding rectangle on your map. Zoom to your area of interest and select Export at the top left. Navigate to OpenStreetMaps to download the OSM file we need. It wants a file path to an OSM file as the input and will output OSMPoints, a Point3d with an OSM defined ID, the text string of the full XML file, and the latitude and longitude domains. The Location component is primarily for preprocessing all of the node or point data from the OSM export. Now restart Grasshopper and a new tab for Elk will appear.įrom the Elk2 menu in the Extra tab in Grasshopper, load the Location component. gha files by right clicking on the file > Properties > Unblock at the bottom of the General tab. Install the Elk plug in by copying all appropriate files into the Grasshopper Components folder, accessed in Grasshopper under File > Special Folders > Component Folder. ![]() IMPORTANT: This tutorial requires an internet connection Since OSM data is open source data, the maps may have incompleteness in parts, but will suffice for most areas of interest. The advantage of using the Elk plug-in is the ability to convert OSM data in Grasshopper for display in Rhino, quickly selecting the feature types that are available including layers beyond roads and buildings. You will also need Grasshopper for Rhino 5.0 This tutorial uses Elk version 2.2.2 available via Food4Rhino Downloading Spatial Data in Grasshopper using Elk
